#Google #Chrome Now Alerts Users When Visiting A Malware Infested Site
Google Chrome browser has now joined the likes of Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer in warning users when they visit a site with potential malware elements. We recently saw Lenovo receiving significant flak for allegedly installing malware apps via Superfish on its laptops.
"SafeBrowsing helps keep you safe online and includes protection against unwanted software that makes undesirable changes to your computer or interferes with your online experience", said Lucas Ballard from Google.
If you're a site owner, the only way to get yourself exempt from the list (assuming there's malware floating on your site), is to register with Google's Webmaster tools and check if they adhere with Google's regulations. Malware is a major threat and has compromised user security on many occasions, so it's good to see Google finally waking up to the risks and taking action.
A security warning like this will go a long way in telling users about the site's credentials and will let them make an informed decision. The feature should be available immediately as the patch is added to Google Chrome on a server level. So if you're using the browser, it's very likely that the feature is already available.
Websites can usually prompt users to download certain apps, which are otherwise considered harmful for the system. There are innumerable cases of these downloads threatening user security, so the addition of this feature has come at the right time.
